The Cifra3 è vane clock consists of two mechanical parts with vane rollers (one for the hours and one for the minutes) and a motor, positioned on the same axis as the rollers, with simple and perfect operation, unchanged since 1966. It is operated by a 1.5-volt battery that drives the movement of the balance.
Designed by Gino Valle in the late '1960s, è recognized worldwide as an icon of '20th century design, so much so that it is part of the permanent collection of MoMa (Museum of Modern Art) in New York and the Science Museum in London.
Today Cifra 3 è the smallest direct-reading clock still in production, with the vane roller system created by Remigio Solari patented in the 1960s.
